Hunger and poverty go hand in hand. Many people rely on our soup kitchen for their only meal. It operates from Monday to Friday and gives out hot meals free of charge. During the school holidays we feed many school children. These children rely on the school feeding programmes for their lunch during the term, but during the holidays they often go hungry during the day.
In winter we feed approximately 200 families per day, and this figure drops during summer.
We grow organic vegetables in our food gardens to use in the soup kitchen. We also compost all the waste peelings etc. Volunteer workers are also fed lunch from the soup kitchen.
