Children from Cape Town's Monwabisi Park in Khayelitsha collect plastic bottles that litter the streets and make them into beautiful flowers.
Roses from rubbish!

Members of the youth centre volunteer some of their time and energy to improve the area. They have helped to fill holes in the roads to alleviate the serious flooding that takes place during winter. They also help disabled people to fix their homes and tend to their gardens.

The younger children collect plastic bottles that litter the streets and make them into beautiful flowers. These decorate the youth centre and some have been sold as Christmas decorations.

In 2007 the mayor of Cape Town commissioned the Christmas tree in the Civic Centre to be decorated by the ‘flowers’ from the Indlovu project. This was a proud moment for us all and earned the 35 kids involved a substantial amount of money, which they have complete control over, and which they have used for the upkeep and maintenance of their centre.
